Is it possible to reverse the negative health effects that stress has had on the body?

Yes, but the sufferer must walk away from stressful situations even if it is a job.

Downsize the life, get rid of the TV, relax, go for walks and MEDITATE. Meditate on peaceful thoughts and your breathing. Close your eyes and clear your mind. Keep doing this over the weeks or months until you are able to do so without stressful thoughts.

Envision yourself as healthy and happy.

Your heart and body will recuperate.

Mind over matter.

The answer is YES. It takes between 6 months and 3 years.
Sleep is your best friend. Trust me.
Avoid sugar. Avoid alcohol. Bad foods actually stress out the system more!

No, I don't think it is. Some stress is a normal part of life, but too much stress makes the body's systems work harder. Overtime that stress wears down the body's ability to function disease free. Exercise helps some people get rid of the "bad" stress and discharge tension. Other people try massage to counteract the negative effects of stress.

The upshot is that the mind-body connection is very powerful and trying to minimize stress, discharge resulting tension and keep a positive attitude is the best shot any of us have at staying healthy. Personally, I think finding an activity you like that relaxes you is the best way to reverse the negative effects of stress and recharge yourself.
